Event Description: This series of oil on paper pieces was created in response to the landscape of New Mexico during a recent visit there.
The landscape there, with its amazing colours and rock formations, is so unlike anything I am familiar with. I was fascinated and came home and painted all summer! Fortunately, I had good sketches made on the spot that I could work from. The works convey the passion of that initial response to the unfamiliar landscape. The strong lines and calligraphic markings remind the viewer of the artist’s background in calligraphy.
